For Hawaii Teams

Built in Honolulu. Booked across the country.

Applied improvisation for Hawaii corporate teams, delivered locally by operators who trained on the mainland and chose to live here. Fortune 500 methodology without the Fortune 500 airfare.

§01 / The Hawaii Tax

You should not have to fly a consultancy in to get this.

Most Hawaii L&D teams who want world-class corporate training default to flying a mainland firm out, paying for the flights, the hotels, the per diems, and the time-zone friction. The methodology arrives but the budget evaporates before the second engagement.

And Scene is based in Honolulu on purpose. Carl Anderson and Lance Roylo trained on the mainland and chose to build the company here. The result is a local-rate engagement with the same caliber of methodology that a New York or San Francisco firm would deliver, minus the cross-Pacific operational tax.

A Hawaii company should not have to choose between Fortune 500 methodology and a sustainable training budget.

§02 / Honesty About Geography

We are not Hawaii natives.

We do not claim to be, and we do not pretend that being based here gives us cultural authority we have not earned. What being based here gives us is operational fit. We are in the same time zone as your team. We can run a half-day on Tuesday and a follow-up on Friday without a flight in between. We can do the in-person work that mainland firms will only do on multi-day site visits.

If your engagement requires deep cultural fluency in Native Hawaiian leadership traditions, we are not the right vendor for that piece. We will tell you that and recommend providers who specialize in it. We focus on applied improvisation for professional skill development. The methodology is universal. The scenarios we use are calibrated to whatever room your team is actually navigating.

§03 / What Hawaii Companies Hire Us For

Common engagement shapes.

The pattern across Hawaii engagements has clustered around five industry contexts. We do not lead with industry expertise. We lead with the methodology. But the scenarios we run with each industry tend to share a shape.

Finance

Bank of Hawaii is our published case. The pattern: customer-facing teams that need to listen better and reframe under pressure, especially when a client is bringing financial anxiety into a routine conversation.

Hospitality

Front-of-house and operations leaders who navigate constant guest variability. The applied improv work helps a manager calibrate the response to a complaint without escalating it, while keeping team morale intact.

Healthcare

Clinical leaders building psychological safety on teams that have to disagree out loud about clinical decisions. Applied improvisation has the strongest research base in healthcare communication of any non-clinical training format.

Government & Public Sector

Mid-level managers leading through process change. The methodology builds the listening and framing skills that make stakeholder consultations productive instead of defensive.

Tech & Startups

Founders and senior ICs who got promoted on technical merit and now need the interpersonal skills to lead. Applied improv is one of the few training formats that develops those skills without feeling remedial.

§04 / Local Proof

One named engagement. Published openly.

Bank of Hawaii's SVP Director of Learning and Development directly compared our program to a top-tier mainland vendor.

"We compared And Scene to another vendor who I wholeheartedly believe is one of the best programs available. Our participants who went through both training courses shared that they wildly preferred And Scene."
Therese Dickerson, SVP Director of Learning & Development, Bank of Hawaii

That is the only named engagement we publish currently. Other Hawaii engagements are confidential by client preference. If you want a private reference, we can arrange one.

§05 / Logistics

How a Hawaii engagement actually runs.

Sessions run on-site at your office or at a venue you select on Oahu. We can travel to the neighbor islands at standard inter-island travel rates. Group size is 12 to 18 for most workshops. Half-day or full-day formats are standard. Same-week scheduling is generally available outside of peak conference season.

Pricing is published openly: $460 per participant per training day, or $6,900 day rate for a group of 15. Producer-level engagements (C-suite) are priced on a custom basis. Hawaii-based engagements do not carry a travel surcharge because we live here.
